Thirty years is a long time to sit in one spot on East Street. When we opened, gas was under a dollar, engines still had distributors and carbureted quirks, and OBD-II wasn’t a thing yet. New Britain has changed a lot. So has the automobile.

What hasn’t changed is what our neighbors expect from a local shop: honest work, fair prices, and a mechanic who tells them the truth. That’s the promise behind our

, and it’s what we set out to do in 1994 — and still do today at 1108 East Street.

## Thirty Years of Neighbors, Not Customers

Anyone can call people “customers.” We think of them as neighbors — because most of them are. Sarah from around Stanley Quarter Park brought her first car in as a college kid and still comes back with her family SUV. David from Newington caught a nail in his tire on the way home from work in 2011, and he’s been a regular ever since. James from Berlin found us because a friend told him about the tire price guarantee.

That’s how a local shop survives thirty years. Not big marketing budgets, not flashy signs — just doing the work honestly, one car at a time, and letting satisfied neighbors tell their friends.

## What “Honest” Actually Looks Like

Honest auto repair is a phrase every shop uses. Here’s what it actually means at our shop:

- **We follow MAP standards.** The Motorist Assurance Program is a national code of ethics for auto repair that specifies when a part actually needs replacement versus when it’s still safe. We follow it on every inspection.
- **Free brake and battery inspections.** No hook, no gimmick. If your brakes have 6mm of pad left, we tell you so. If your battery is fine, we don’t sell you a new one.
- **30-Day Tire Price Guarantee.** Find the same tire cheaper locally within 30 days and we match the price. Real price matching, not the fine-print kind.
- **We say “no” when a repair doesn’t make sense.** If your ten-year-old car needs a $2,500 repair and it’s worth $2,000, we’ll say so. Sometimes the honest answer is “it’s time for a different car.”

## Three Decades of Change Under the Hood

The tools have changed a lot. In 1994, a scan tool was a novelty. Today we plug OBD-II into every check-engine light and read live sensor data in real time. Alignment used to mean chalk marks on tires; now our Hunter rack uses laser targets and computes camber, caster, and toe to the tenth of a degree.

The cars have changed too. Modern engines are smaller, more efficient, and packed with technology — but they still need oil changes, brakes, and tires. And the honest work still starts with the same thing: really listening to what the car — and the owner — is telling you.

## Thank You, New Britain

Thirty years means thousands of drivers from New Britain, Newington, Berlin, Kensington, Plainville, Farmington, and Southington who trusted us with their cars. It means kids who first came in with their parents and now bring in their own cars. It means being invited to sponsor youth sports and neighborhood events. It means being part of central Connecticut in a way we’re genuinely grateful for.

We’re not going anywhere. We’re still at 1108 East Street. Come see us for your next
