Diagnose First, Then Recharge
Nothing wastes money faster than pumping refrigerant into a leaking A/C system. It cools for a week, then you’re back where you started. Our approach at the New Britain shop: diagnose the root cause first, then recharge only when the system will actually hold.

We check system pressures, listen for compressor cycling, use UV dye to trace leaks, and inspect the condenser, evaporator, and blend-door operation. If everything checks out, a fair-priced recharge gets you cold air. If there’s a leak, we find it and give you an honest quote on the fix.
Common A/C Complaints We See
- A/C blowing cool but not cold (low refrigerant or leak)
- Compressor clicking on and off constantly (low refrigerant or bad pressure switch)
- Warm air only from one side (bad blend door)
- No airflow at all (blower motor or resistor failure)
- Musty smell (cabin air filter or evaporator drain)
Heating System Repair
When your heater blows cold in a Connecticut January, the fix is usually one of these:
- Heater core: Clogged with sediment or leaking coolant into the cabin
- Thermostat: Stuck open, engine never reaches operating temperature
- Blower motor: Failed or a bad resistor causing intermittent operation
- Blend-door actuator: Common failure on many vehicles — a small motor that controls hot/cold mix
- Low coolant: Simple to fix, always worth checking first
Our ASE-certified technicians diagnose year-round comfort issues honestly, with parts-and-labor warranty on every repair.
