Free Battery Load Test at Every Visit

Your car battery has a hard life in Connecticut. Summer heat cooks the internals, winter cold cripples cold-cranking amps, and short trips never fully recharge it. Most passenger-car batteries last 3–5 years, and by year four you’re on borrowed time.

Digital battery load tester displaying cold-cranking-amps reading

Every visit to our New Britain shop includes a free battery load test. We use a digital tester that measures actual cold-cranking amps against the spec printed on your battery — a real load test, not a guess based on voltage alone. If your battery is weak, we’ll show you the number and let you decide.

Won’t Start? We Diagnose the Real Cause

A car that won’t start could be the battery, the alternator, the starter, a bad connection, or even a parasitic draw slowly killing your battery overnight. We test all of it before recommending a repair — you don’t want to buy a new battery only to find out the alternator was the real problem.

Our diagnostic tools:

  • Digital battery load tester (with CCA readout)
  • Charging system tester (alternator output under load)
  • Multimeter for parasitic draw measurement
  • Professional OBD-II scan tool for trouble codes

Quality Batteries, Fair Prices

We install Interstate, Duralast, and other quality-brand batteries with real warranties — not house brands with fine-print exclusions. Prices vary by vehicle size and battery type; we’ll give you a firm quote after testing. Old battery core credit applied at the counter.

FAQ

Battery & Electrical FAQs

How much does a car battery cost at your shop?

expand_more
Depends on your vehicle's battery size and type (standard flooded vs AGM). Interstate and Duralast batteries range from around $130 to $250 installed for most passenger cars. Free load test first — sometimes the battery is fine and the problem is elsewhere.

How do I know if my battery or alternator is the problem?

expand_more
A dying battery cranks slowly, especially in the cold, and may need frequent jumps. An alternator problem shows up as dim lights while driving, dashboard battery warning, or a fresh battery that keeps dying. We test both to be sure.

Do you charge for battery testing?

expand_more
No. Battery load testing is free at our New Britain shop. Bring it in any time, especially before Connecticut winter starts.

How long do car batteries last?

expand_more
Typically 3–5 years in Connecticut's climate. Extreme heat and deep discharges shorten that. If your battery is 4+ years old, get it tested annually — even before it fails.

Can you diagnose electrical problems beyond the battery?

expand_more
Yes. We use professional OBD-II scan tools and multimeters to trace parasitic draws, faulty ground connections, alternator diode failures, and starter solenoid issues. Real diagnostics, no guesswork.
